Despite the considerable resources devoted to health sciences research, consistent evidence from the literature shows that the transfer of research findings are not being timely taken up in practice/action settings in the health and health-related professions. The growing evidence of this gap coupled with the current emphasis on evidence-based, accountable, and cost-effective action, mainly derived from the present world crisis and societal challenges, have proved that, more than ever, professional skills need to be continuously updated, in particular those related with Environmental Health and crosscutting areas, making it imperative to find ways to stimulate the interest and facilitate the knowledge-to-action process among the health and health-related professionals.
Accordingly, most EnviHealth&Co / EH-MSc Seminars, Courses, and Modules, conducted at ISAMB or at other FMUL’s units and partners, are open to other students, health or other professionals, to implement competences’ development and Continuing Education in the Health and related professions.
Moreover, a Technical Training Center in Environmental and Occupational Health (EOH) within ISAMB will offer additional elements of continuing education for skill-building that meet the needs/interests of the EOH workforce, alumni, current students and anyone practicing in or studying EOH or related fields (particularly those from Portuguese speaking countries).
This offer will use a part-time format, include educational methods beyond the didactic and consider organisational and system factors with a strong focus on self-directed learning and personal development. It will comprise seminars, workshops, on-site training, and in-person, e- or b-learning short-courses covering topics in areas as Pneumology, Allergology, ORL, Nutrition, Psychology, Biosafety, Infection Diagnosis, Genetics, Endocrinology, Statistics, Entrepreneurship, among others, according to the students’ interests.
