For its operation and management, ISAMB is governed by principles of democraticity and equal opportunities enrolled in its Regulation, which defines the general principles of ISAMB’s organs composition, their roles, powers, and how they are elected and recruited, and work. ISAMB will adopt an organisational structure encompassing elements with distinct and complementary functions:
- the Governance Body, comprising: a) the Board of Directors, including the ISAMB’s Coordinator, appointed by the FMUL’s Dean, and one deputy Coordinator, elected by the Scientific Council that includes all the ISAMB’s Integrated Members; b) the Executive Committee, including the heads of the ISAMB’s dimensions of intervention and led by the R&D dimension head.
- the Advisory Body, including the Scientific Council, the Strategic Advisory Committee (comprising key stakeholders from the fields of research, education, technology, business, entrepreneurship, policy and social sectors), the External Auditor, and the Permanent External Committee for Scientific Advisory (CEPAC – Comissão Externa Permanente de Aconselhamento Científico), consisting of a board of experts on scientific areas related to the ISAMB activities.
CEPAC will provide advice and support by either taking part in the ISAMB national and internal evaluation exercises (reviewing its activities and verifying if the R&D Unit is on track and achieving what is supposed to) or helping to shape the ISAMB’s R&D agenda, through guidance and advice on future development, new opportunities for partnership and/or collaboration, and strategic direction.
